Position Purpose:

In order to ensure the integrity of racing, Livestock Worker 1 is assigned to collect urine and assist in the taking of blood samples for testing purposes.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

1. Collect urine from assigned horses.
2. Pick up sample kit from state vet’s office; verify samples numbers on urine cup, security straps and witness receipt.
3. Notify state vet urine has been collected and assist vet in bleeding horse.
4. The horse must be under the observation of the farm worker at all times.
5. Identify the horse by reading the tattoo number.
6. Return sample, split and wrap urine and blood samples according to established guidelines.
7. Clean work area.
8. Bed stalls.
9. Other work deemed necessary or appropriate by supervisor.

Employees need to obtain a Commission Employee License.

Insuring the times, tattoos and all information is accurate and correct. Also, make sure that all horsemen have their license and to convey any abnormalities to the judges immediately. This is of the utmost importance since the immediate supervisor is not present for the job.

Essential Functions

 6. Withstand various types of weather conditions.
 7. Walk and stand for long periods which includes maneuvring over all types of physical surfaces.
 8. Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching and climbing of stairs.
 9. Lift equipment and supplies up to 30 pounds.
 10. Maintain professionalism at all times.
