Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Repair doors, doorframes and furniture. Fabricate and install temporary partitions. Operate sanders, jointers, power saws, planers and related power and hand tools to perform assigned carpentry duties. Install electric circuits, wall outlets and lighting fixtures. Repair and recondition fans, lights, electrical circuits and motors. Repair and install plumbing fixtures, sinks, water closets, fountains, lavatories and related equipment. Open clogged waste drains, sewers, and commodes. Measure and cut, ream, thread and install pipe for steam and water lines. Make repairs to heating lines and fan coil units. Maintain and repair air conditioning and heating units. Repair steam heating and cooking equipment, ovens, stoves, slicers, kettles, etc. Service and repair freezers, coolers and refrigerators of various types. Perform masonry work in connection with buildings, foundations, walkways and walls. Make repairs to roofs, install/repair flashing and spouting. Prepare surfaces for interior and exterior painting. Paint and decorate interiors of buildings. Repair and hang wallpaper. Repair and replace locks on doors, furniture, etc. Perform minor repairs to wheelchairs, geri chairs, beds, and associated equipment. Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition. Make minor repairs such as oiling, cleaning, adjusting and other preventative maintenance. Maintain lawn appearance by cutting the grass with hand/riding mowers; trimming trees, bushes, shrubbery, and hedges; and raking leaves. May perform landscaping activities such as putting down mulch, removing and disposing of weeds, dead branches, and debris; seeding grass areas as necessary; fertilizing the lawn, and planting and caring for flower beds. Keep sidewalk, steps and parking areas free of debris, litter, leaves, grass, snow, etc. Remove snow from sidewalks and parking lots using snow removal equipment such as: plows, salt spreaders, snow blowers, shovels, etc. as needed Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to supervisor Perform other related duties as required. Use personal protective equipment when required such as gloves, masks, face shield, etc. |
