Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position performs cleaning duties throughout the facility.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Perform deep cleaning procedures of resident rooms, common areas, offices, nurse stations, security desks, employee testing rooms, dialysis rooms, kitchen areas, staff breakrooms, transportation vehicles, visitation booths, and public areas. Frequently performs deep cleaning for situations including residents going to and returning from the hospital, and residents being transitioned to/from precautionary units, etc.

General cleaning duties such as mopping, scrubbing, waxing, polishing, dusting, sweeping, buffing, etc. of: walls, baseboards, floors, handrails, elevators, mirrors, interior windows, window sills, ash trays, air vents, Venetian blinds, curtains, light fixtures, file cabinets, wardrobes, night stands, water fountains, bathroom fixtures, doors, wheelchairs, Geri chairs, tray chairs, etc.

Clean and sanitize all restrooms.

Empty waste containers and dispose into trash dumpsters.

Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, chemical cleaners, etc.

Occasionally count, separate, wash, sort, and fold linens and clothing and deliver to resident areas by hand or motorized equipment.

Dispose of recyclable materials into recycle dumpster.

Collect and dispose infectious waste into proper storage areas.

Pick up and/or deliver supplies.

Move furniture and equipment as required for cleaning, rearranging, and moving of resident rooms.

Clean, sanitize, rearrange, and organize resident rooms prior to occupation.

Maintain a safe working environment and report all problems and unsafe conditions to supervisor.

Assist with shoveling snow and may operate snow blowers and other related snow removal equipment.

Clear and clean debris from sidewalks and facility perimeter.

Assist in the training and instructing of new employees.

Use and mix chemicals from label instructions.

Use S.D.S. instructions to ensure proper procedures in case of spills.

Understand policies and procedures of Housekeeping Department.

Occasionally count, separate, wash, sort, and fold linens and clothing and deliver to resident areas by hand or motorized equipment.

Attend all assigned QAPI training. Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts. Share ideas for improvement in the organization. Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally, including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings.

Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to the supervisor.

Perform other related duties as required.

Use personal protective equipment when required such as gloves, masks, face shield, etc.

Essential Functions

 1. Perform repetitive motions; reach, bend, walk, lift, stoop, grasp, kneel, climb stairs and stand on hard surfaces
 2. Regularly use solvents, chemicals and protective equipment
 3. Vacuum, shampoo and spot clean carpeting
 4. Mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax and buff floors using manual and power equipment
 5. Use and maintain manual and power janitorial equipment
 6. Wash, scrub, sanitize, deodorize, dust, wax and polish surfaces
 7. Move furniture and equipment. Empty waste and recycling receptacles
 8. Use personal protective equipment and follow safety practices
 9. Follow directions and communicate effectively orally and in writing
 10. Remove snow, trash and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways
